Criteria for being an Outdoors for Life Activity Provider


Essential Evidence of:

  • Clear welcome and introductory information
  • Programs and activities at times that suit most families
  • Programs for beginners through to skilled participants
  • Programs that provide variety and are engaging, challenging and interesting
  • Clear physical literacy pathways for different age groups
  • Clear communication on websites and social media
  • Simple online organisation procedures and booking process
  • Monitoring and assessment processes of activities and participants

Embedded Policies and Procedures:

  • Child safe practices
  • Inclusive outdoor activity framework and policy
  • Physical literacy guidelines
  • Risk Benefit Policy
  • Family Friendly Policy

The Outdoors for Life Environment and whole setting approach

  • Family friendly places, spaces and facilities
  • Accessibility and safety of site or venue
  • Flexible and adaptable use of space particularly to cater for the needs of families

Planning, Teaching and Learning

  • Qualifications and experience of staff
  • Training programs for staff and volunteers
  • Examples of Family Friendly programs
  • Examples of how your service has incorporated and celebrated Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander culture, customs and traditions into the outdoor experiences

Communicating the Outdoors for Life ethos and engaging the community

  • Evidence of community involvement – visitors, resources supplied, local media Evidence of engaging and informing parents/ carers organisations ethos
  • Collaboration with other Outdoor Activity Providers to support inclusive outdoor activity opportunities
  • Evidence of relevant positive feedback from parents/carers, families, children
  • Evidence of regular emphasis on inclusivity on the organisations social-media, website, advertising and newsletter
